Students specialize in visual studies, intermedial studies, heritage, cultural mediation and museum studies, material culture history, the history of museums and collections.
The course offers high-quality teaching and training to students, helping them gain expertise in the arts and visual culture. Taught almost entirely in English the degree will put graduates in a position to engage in careers in France or abroad, whether it be in the arts, heritage and museums or in research and teaching.

Spécificités
Teaching:All classes are taught face-to-face on the Campus Nation. The course is almost entirely taught in English.
Course structure:
Our partnership with the Department of Arts and Media of the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle means students can follow specialised classes in museum studies and cultural mediation, gaining skills and expertise on topics such as museums or the geopolitics of art.
The partnership the Master's Degree in Gender Studies at Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne means students can specialise on the intersections between gender and the arts.
Our partnership with the Master's Degree in Early Modern Studies at Université Paris Cité gives our students the opportunity to develop specific expertise in the arts and culture of the early-modern period with a particularly rich course offering on the period.
The course is particularly well-suited to innotative immersive teaching formats such as BIP (Blended Intensive Programmes) in partnership with our international partners.

- In addition to teaching, research and publishing, the course opens up careers in culture, cultural mediation, information and communication, conservation and heritage. As the course is taught almost entirely in English, it enables students to apply to international jobs.

Formation(s) requise(s)
To apply to the programme, students need to hold one of the following

an undergraduate degree in English or equivalent
-
An undergraduate degree or B.A in a field of the humanities obtained from a university in an English-speaking country.

An undergraduate degree in a different field of the humanities (history, history of art…) provided they can show proof of proficiency in English (level C1 recommended) and good knowledge of English speaking countries' culture.
Admission
Students with an undergraduate degree obtained from a French university can apply on the MonMaster app. Students with degrees obtained from a non French university should apply through the platform Campus France
Students who want to apply to the 2nd year of the MA should apply through the ecandidat platform.
First year applicants will be requested to submit
• A copy of their undergraduate degree and grade reports (if the degree or grade reports are not written in English or French an official translation will be requested)
• A resumé written in English
• A letter of motivation, written in French, highlighting how the candidate's background and experience (academic and professional) aligns with the MA programme and with the candidate's future plans (academic and professional)
• A one-page description (written in English) of a potential research area/ question which the candidate would like to work on for their thesis. The document should also name two potential research supervisors among scholars working in the Department (Monde Anglophone). Research topics presented in the letter should align with the programme and focus on a topic related to cultural or material studies, visual studies or the arts. Please note that this proposal is ikely to change and be amended once students are accepted into the programme.

Number of students: 40 (20 in first year / 20 in second year)
Organisation générale des études
The Master's programme is a pluridisciplinary programme taught in English based on a core curriculum of cross-disciplinary courses aimed at giving students key transferable skills (topics include critical theory, research epistemology, translation, public speaking, academic writing, research methodologies…).
In addition to this core curriculum, students can choose from a range of specialised courses on a variety of topics related to the arts, literature, heritage and the media ranging from film studies to literature and from material culture to museum studies. They will also be able to follow classes in the Arst and Media department to develop their expertise on museum studies and cultural mediation.
Each student will be able to choose courses best suited to the research project they wish to pursue. During the first semester, with the help of his or her supervisor, each student will define a research project. Students will be able to attend specific methodology and writing workshops all through the course to help them define and complete their project - whether it be a research thesis or getting and making the most out of a work placement or internship.
