General informations about the courses   

You can choose courses from up to 3 study departments. You must choose at least one course from your major of study. 

Course codes provide information about the department of study and the semester. Be sure to check whether the course you are interested in applies to the semester you will be attending at the Sorbonne Nouvelle.

Each course has a code. The code is composed of letters and numbers.The first letter corresponds to the deparment of study. The number corresponds to the semester.

Example course: A5LNG -> A = Anglophone Studies; 5 = semester 5 (1st semester of L3)


General restrictions
  • The various profesionnal courses (known as "pro") at Bachelor's and Master's level are never accesible to exchange students.
  • You can not do an internship through Sorbonne Nouvelle because the university cannot deliver you an internship convention. If you absolutely must do a work placement and it is compatible with your studies, you will need to apply to your home university for an agreement.
  • As a general rule, language courses are only available to students in the  Foreign Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Societies (LLCSE) department and are not open to beginners.
  • Courses offered in partnership with the universities of Paris 1, Paris 4 and Paris 7 are not available.
  • Please note that courses in English are only available in the English-speaking World department and part of the LEA department.
  • For the Bureau des Enseignements Transversaux (BET), enrolment is limited to a maximum of 1 or 2 courses per semester The Computer Science and Foreign Language Teaching Units (UE) of the BET are not accessible to exchange students, except for the LANSAD English courses.
  • You will find the specific restrictions for each study department in the tables below.

  • Restrictions : Enrollment is limited to 1 or 2 courses maximum per semester. The BET teaching unit (UE) in computer science and foreign languages are not accessible to exchange students, except for the LANSAD English courses.
