Our Summer Schools

  • The Sorbonne Nouvelle University offers its Summer Schools focused on its areas of expertise, which are Arts and Humanities. These short programs, open to students from all over the world, are a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in Parisian student life and benefit from the excellent multidisciplinary training offered by our study departments.

  • Our programs range from one to three weeks, combining intensive teaching with cultural outings to discover the richness of French material and immaterial heritage between Paris and other major cities.

Summer School - Paris Noir

As a university of cultures, Sorbonne Nouvelle anchors its identity in openness, diversity, and intercultural understanding.

Organized in partnership with Villa Albertine, the 2026 Summer School “Celebrating 250 Years of Freedom and Democracy: A Critical Assessment in Paris Noir” invites students from Minority Serving Institutions to explore the history and (urban) geography of Paris Noir through a balanced program of academic workshops, cultural visits, and artistic/professional encounters.

We critically explore French and US democratic ideals, minority experience and diversity politics, and our ongoing kinship.

Activities cut across Social Sciences, Humanities, Art, Law. A central priority is to amplify youth voices through interactive, participatory sessions led by doctoral students and young career scholars.

By connecting history, culture, and citizen engagement, Sorbonne Nouvelle affirms its commitment to inclusive affordable education and international collaboration.

FLE Summer School - Seoul National University

This French as a Foreign Language (FLE) Summer School at Sorbonne Nouvelle is part of an academic partnership with Seoul National University.

Each year, we welcome Korean students for a three-week program designed to strengthen their French language skills and deepen their knowledge of French culture. The curriculum includes nearly 30 hours of French classes, taught by specialized instructors from the DFLE department, and organized by level, from A1 to B2. This structure ensures that each participant receives guidance tailored to their profile and academic objectives.

Beyond language instruction, the Summer School offers a comprehensive cultural immersion experience. Students have the opportunity to discover major institutions and iconic Parisian landmarks, such as the Opéra Garnier, the Bibliothèque nationale de France, and the Assemblée nationale. The program also includes excursions to emblematic heritage sites and landscapes, notably Giverny and Étretat, fostering a vivid and tangible understanding of French culture.

At the end of the program, each student is awarded a certificate of achievement corresponding to the level completed.
